Nutritional Supplements is the first step in our ‘5 Easy Steps to Anti-aging Program’.

There are so many so-called experts out there telling us we have to take supplements, and each recommends a different one - or combo of fifty!.

We can almost hear you asking, “Why are nutritional supplements important for Anti-Aging? What good do they do me?”

We asked the same questions in our research to come up with quality information for you. We saved you the time and trouble! Here’s what we found out:

Supplements will help your body to:

  • Strengthen and fortify your immune system, helping to drastically reduce the risk of disease
  • Improve absorption of nutrients from your food
  • Mend a leaky gut, aid digestion and digestive problems
  • Improve communication and speed of your nerve signals
  • Revive your energy levels and improve your stamina
  • Conquer fatigue and reduce stress
  • And sometimes, even reverse disease

“Okay,” you say, “that sounds great, but won’t my body do all that if I eat a healthy, balanced diet?”

Good point. Your body does have a lot of innate healing and detoxification abilities, but it’s the quality of foods that is so poor.

With all of the contaminants in our water and soil, as well as over-worked lands from intense farming, our food supply is low in nutrients and minerals. Did you know that you would have to eat eight bowls of spinach today, to get the same amount of nutrients you would have gotten from one bowl a hundred years ago? Consequently, a ‘healthy, balanced diet’ is actually much less nutritious these days than we imagine.

This is why supplementing your healthy food choices (including eating organically as much as possible) with vitamins and antioxidants can be of such dramatic benefit.

Your body wants to be healthy; that is its natural state. Cooperate with your body’s needs and it will support you with vitality for a long, long time.

nutritional supplements

Sooo Many Choices!

There are so many options to choose from when it comes to nutritional supplements in your diet; it can be so confusing and overwhelming! (Sometimes, don’t you just want to howl at the vitamin displays in the store?)

People are spending millions on the ‘latest and greatest of nutritional supplements’ instead of getting the whole story about each product. Our team has done a lot of research (and some howling), investigated many theories and products, and examined the conclusions from a wide variety of clinical studies. We’re happy (and relieved!) to share our results with you.

Staying Healthy Is Not Complicated … but it does require you to learn about your body’s needs.

As we age, we require more nutrients. Aging itself can be viewed as a vitamin deficiency, and thus exposes us to premature death. If you’re past 60, it’s likely that you are deficient in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals even by RDA standards.

Top 10 Nutritional Supplements for Anti-Aging

Here are the most effective and essential nutritional supplements that will, in our honest opinion, support you to easily reach your goal: Healthy and Active Longevity.

These nutritional supplements are listed in order of importance for everyone.

All other vitamins and nutrients rely on glutathione to function optimally. Un-denatured whey is the only nutritional supplement that provides the necessary precursors for your body to produce enough glutathione.

  1. Un-denatured Whey Protein Isolate daily It’s the bioactivity in the whey that has all the value. Make sure the whey protein you get is un-denatured (not processed by heat or oxidized), otherwise you will not be raising your glutathione levels. Scientists call glutathione your body’s ‘Master Antioxidant'. It is naturally produced in every cell, and is your body’s most powerful protector.

Glutathione (GSH) prevents and fights disease through cellular repair, as well as, promotes detoxification (the more toxins you ingest, the faster you age) and regulates immune response. The problem is, as you age, your body cannot produce enough glutathione to effectively fight the attacks from free radicals. Thus, it is crucial for anti-aging – and simply to preserve or improve health - to help your body raise its GSH levels. And, there is no better way to do that than taking an un-denatured whey protein isolate product daily.

  2. One Multi-vitamin/mineral daily Choosing your multi-vitamin/mineral – Read the label. Make sure to get one that is naturally sourced and of pharmaceutical grade as these will help with all-important absorption. Your multi-vitamin should dissolve fully in water between 2 and 4 hours.

  3. Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) – Omega 3 daily These are the ‘good oils’. They help to regulate the functions of your Nervous System. Omega 3 contains two Essential Fatty Acids (DHA, EPA) that are essential for protection against neurological disorders. Omega 3s also help decrease your risk of heart attack, stroke, bowel and breast cancer.

Good sources for Omega 3 are… fish oil capsules (look for high levels of EPA and DHA), eating fish at least 3 times a week (as long as it’s fish that is certified free of contaminants and heavy metals such as mercury), cod liver oil (try it again – it’s not that horrible anymore!), flaxseed oil or ground flax seed.

  4. Greens product daily By ‘Greens’, we don’t mean lettuce and spinach! We’re referring to nutritional supplements like spirulina, chlorella, blue-green algae and wheat grass. These all contain large amounts of chlorophyll.

The key to understanding why you need to get enough ‘greens’ is about the nature of chlorophyll – the more green, the more chlorophyll. Chlorophyll fights bacteria, yeast and fungus. It is also anti-inflammatory, enriches blood, renews tissue, strengthens the intestines, improves liver function and activates enzymes to produce vitamins.

When choosing your Greens product, read the label. Look for naturally sourced, organic and pharmaceutical grade.

  5. Digestive Aids – Enzymes and Probiotics daily Proper digestion and overall digestive system health is key in your anti-aging program. Taking probiotics with your meals will help to restore the balance of good bacteria in your intestines. This will greatly improve your nutrient absorption, and that will improve your immune system response.

Digestive enzymes are so important because they help you to properly break down your food. Absorption of poorly digested food can lead to many problems, including all kinds of bowel and colon distress. This is because the partially digested food ferments (!!) in your stomach and intestines.

  6. 1000mg Calcium and 500mg Magnesium daily It is important to take calcium and magnesium in conjunction with vitamin D. Both calcium and magnesium are imperative for maintaining a healthy nervous system and also for bone health in general.

  7. 1000 – 2000 IU Vitamin D daily If you decide to supplement your diet with vitamin D, make sure to have your levels tested by your doctor or health practitioner first. People who spend a lot of time in the sunshine, don’t need to supplement with Vitamin D. And, too much of it can be harmful.

Vitamin D will help with your absorption of calcium, thus helping to prevent osteoporosis. Vitamin D also optimizes your immune system function and can reduce auto-immune disorders.

  8. Antioxidants daily Antioxidants are your Free Radical Fighters. Everyday, we are all bombarded by toxins in our air, water and food; this produces free radicals in our systems. Free radicals are unstable molecules that attack healthy cells. Free radicals basically make our bodies rust from the inside, and this is mainly why we age.

If your diet is poor, you will want to take a nutritional supplement with additional antioxidants such as Vitamin C, E and Alpha lipoic acid.

  9. B Vitamin Complex daily The B vitamins are key for good neurological health and improve the overall functioning of your nervous system. Aging well is strongly associated with emotional health and stress management. The B vitamins are great stress relievers too, and can aid you in having a better night’s sleep.

Make sure to take a B complex that has folic acid.

  10. Liquid Minerals daily To ensure that you have adequate amounts of essential and trace minerals in your body (they exist for a reason … many reasons actually!), a liquid mineral supplement is very helpful. Some trace minerals and amino acids are difficult to get from food.

Get a natural, highly absorbable, sweetener-free product. If possible, get an organic product as this increases the bio-availability of the minerals.

So that’s it – your nutritional supplement survival guide! Well, that’s it plus WATER. Everything plus water. Good water, that is. Not tap water. And, not distilled water. The best is natural spring water.

Water is key for detoxification and cleansing. It’s imperative for overall health of every internal system.

You can add some lemon juice or some ginger to make your water more palatable, but don’t skimp on water. It makes up 98% of you, and not only will dehydration make you age faster, it will make you sluggish, lethargic and maybe even dull!

Understanding these nutritional supplements, and the importance of taking them, requires that you do your homework – but it’s worth it, to attain a long and healthy life.

Supplement your diet, and control your aging!
